A Call for Qualitative Nurse Researchers

During our QI2007 conference in May, I was struck with the number of nurses I met. I was pleased to see so many of us engaged in qualitative research. It occurred to me that we might have a critical mass of nurses who would like to gather for a Pre-conference event just as the Spanish-speaking group and the Japanese group met this past spring. In order to determine a level of interest, please respond to me, carrols@umich.edu (Carrol Smith, PhD, RN), with your vote to hold a pre-conference workshop and any ideas you may have about what to include in the workshop. I am willing to work on coordinating the workshop, but I will need your ideas, assistance, and readiness to participate. Next year’s conference, QI2008, will be held from May 14-May 18 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. That means that a special pre-conference event for nurses would take place on Wednesday, May 14. Please consider these dates when you reply to me.

Technology in Qualitative Research (TQR)

Qualitative researchers with an interest in the technologies of qualitative research are invited to participate in the first-ever Technology in Qualitative Research Pre-Conference day at QI2008.  A keynote speaker, papers, and a technology showcase are among the planned activities.  Novices and experienced users are welcome. Please check the ADITQR call for proposals for more information.
