Mercilee Jenkins
Mercilee Jenkins is a playwright/ethnographer whose work encompasses scholarly articles, performance texts, poetry, and several produced plays, including A Credit to Her Country, She Rises Like a Building to the Sky, and Menopause and Desire (published in Text and Performance Quarterly). Her new play, The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit, was selected for the 2008 Theatre Bay Area Playwrights Showcase and has been presented as work-in-progress in Chicago, Phoenix, San Francisco and Detroit. She received the Lesley Irene Coger Award for Distinguished Performance from the National Communication Association in 2004 and the 2009 Western Studies Communication Association Performance Studies Interest Group (PSIG) Outstanding Contributions to Performance Studies Award.
