Qualitative Book Award: Call for Nominations

The International Center for Qualitative Inquiry is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2011 qualitative book award. This award will be conferred annually to a member of the qualitative and ethnographic community who has published the English-language book that best represents an important contribution to qualitative inquiry.

Eligible books will use and advance qualitative methods to investigate any topic or aspect of qualitative inquiry. Applications for the award will be judged by criteria that signify a major contribution to the study and practice of qualitative approaches. Such criteria may include: success in experimenting with new and traditional writing forms; inclusion of critical reflections on the writing and research process; contributions to living meaningful lives; and insights into creating a socially just world. The award will be presented at the annual meeting of the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry in May 2011. 

To be eligible for the 2011 award, the book should have a publication date between 2009 and 2011. Nominators are expected to arrange for copies of the book to be mailed, on request, to the three-judge panel.

To provide sufficient time to collect nominations for the inaugural award for publications in Spanish or Portuguese, we are making the announcement beginning in 2010 for the inaugural award in 2012. For this only ocassion, and only for the Spanish or Portuguese Qualitative Book Award, we will consider nominations of books published on or between 2008 and November 2011. Otherwise, the conditions for this award in Spanish or Portuguese will be the same of the Qualitative Book Award.

(Para que los autores cuenten con tiempo suficiente para inscribir su obra en este premio inaugural al mejor libro de investigación cualitativa en español o portugués, estamos convocando en 2010 al premio inaugural que se otorgará en 2012. Por esta única ocasión, y solamente para la inauguración del Premio al Libro en Investigación Cualitativa en Español o Portugués, consideraremos nominaciones de libros publicados en o entre 2008 y noviembre de 2011 de acuerdo con el resto de los términos de la convocatoria al Qualitative Book Award)
